Food to awaken life

New Zealand-based bakery Venerdi is renowned for its gluten-free breads and baked goods. Since 2002, the award-winning company has put high-quality, nutritious, and enjoyable breads back in the hands and mouths of people with celiac disease, gluten intolerance, food allergies or dietary restrictions.

Following their recent rebrand and product repositioning, our challenge was to expand Venerdi’s vibrant new identity into the digital world, enhancing the user experience for online customers across Australia and New Zealand.

‘Food to awaken life’, the ethos that informs all aspects of the brand, is the lens through which we approached the website rebuild. Moving away from the existing template-driven platform, we developed an integrated multi-site for Australian and New Zealand audiences that feels familiar and exciting. Our solution is a more robust ecommerce platform with improvements to front end UI and UX, functionality and navigation.

We introduced user accounts to cater to the unique requirements of customer and wholesale user groups, facilitating one-time purchases and promoting the convenience of subscriptions. Shoppers can effortlessly explore product details and add items to their cart from any screen. New features include access to order history and streamlining the repeat purchase process, as well as personalised cross-selling, product bundles and discount systems.

This custom solution lends a hand-drawn touch to interactive elements, breathing life into illustrations through animation, expanding the suite in the established loose, sketchy style. Engaging text hovers and bouncy type add a touch of playfulness, paired with spirited copywriting that incorporates baking terminology and bread puns. This relaxed approach to communications makes the brand feel more accessible.
