In 2021, NBA champion Kyle Lowry dropped his first NFT collection, celebrating two years since the 2019 Toronto Raptors Championship Parade.
Our challenge was to design and develop a website to sell this unique, limited collection of NFTs highlighting Kyle Lowry’s personal experience of the Championship Parade.
Lead by Toronto-based studio Recess Creative, this project involved collaboration between Kyle Lowry and renowned Toronto artist Corbin Portillo. Together they created ‘Through My Eyes’, a series of seven powerful NFT artworks highlighting Kyle’s Raptors story and immortalising the memory of this epic feat.
The website we designed makes the NFTs the hero, allowing users to interact with the artwork through simple horizontal scrolling gestures and wipe transition effects along a timeline.
The initial drop was teased two weeks prior and launched on MakersPlace, through the website, social channels and blogs. Multiple media outlets picked up the collection as a collaboration between creatives, artists and sport.
The collection was released in a staggered fashion, with open editions released first to generate hype before the limited artworks were available to purchase. With an engaged community eager buy the artwork immediately, the campaign was live for just two weeks, underscoring the power of this brave new world of NFTs.
